Cacica’s name pays tribute to her mother’s by also originating from Native American heritage where “Cacica” is a title reserved for strong female leaders in tribes. She lives up to the name by being a leader who masters all behaviors in record time. Cacica excels at everything she sets her mind to, even lexigrams which are flashcards representing different behaviors as an interactive exercise. Cacica loves to select her own behavior by touching the lexigram!
It amazes us that even though her aunt Pandora often nursed her for the first year of her life, the genetics of Calusa’s mother heavily influenced her determined personality. One of her favorite behaviors is her hurdle jump where a trainer will hold a target pole above the water while she builds up speed and flies over the pole with great enthusiasm. When Cacica’s not soaring in the air, she is usually playing with her favorite hula hoop.
