Bowie’s arrival to this world is quite a unique story that the DRC family will never forget. Her mother is Gypsi, who was a first time mom when Bowie was born. After her arrival, Bowie was showing great signs of strength but unfortunately her mother did not know how to care for her. The team needed to intervene to ensure baby Bowie’s survival, so she was relocated to our medical pool. For the following 8 months the team worked tirelessly to care for her by swimming around the clock with feeds every 2 hours. Once she reached the proper age she was introduced to the rest of the pod where Aleta took her under her flipper and became her surrogate mother. Bowie is named after her late grandfather, Bo, with whom she gets her laid back personality from. Not much bothers her and accepts change with a relaxed attitude just like her father Louie. Bowie looks very much like her mother and shares the same love for people. If you want to brighten your day be sure to head to the front lagoon where Bowie can always be found having fun playing tag with our youngest dolphin, Morada.
